Short Synopsis
In Ngor, Senegal, the old fisherman Bayedjip often finds his pirogue empty. The waters, once known as the richest in the world, have long been depleted, plundered by industrial fishing. While he ventures alone into the open sea to hand-catch the six-meter blue marlin in the hope of feeding his family, the young Modou, on land, has given up fishing, disillusioned by the lack of prospects for Senegalese youth. Between these two opposing visions, Aliou, Modou’s older brother and Bayedjip’s nephew, a committed family man, fights tirelessly on both land and sea for Senegal.
In a time of unprecedented political upheaval in West Africa, this family alone embodies the past, present, and future of Senegal’s deep connection to its waters.
This is the story of three men who gaze at the sea together, but see three different horizons.
